For Better Veterinary
Care Worldwide
// ABOUT
Worldwide animal welfare is a topic of growing public interest and concern. Animal health professionals are the key players for animal welfare in daily practice, research, law enforcement and as experts in society. For this important task, students of animal health professions need to be equipped with knowledge, skills and a strong awareness for their responsibility as experts for the welfare of animals. Animal welfare requires a practical, professional and science-based approach which can be applied in everyday practice.
To support academic institutions and continuous professional development to include animal welfare into their training WTS has developed comprehensive teaching modules with a focus on applied animal welfare.
The VETS UNITED Animal Welfare Teaching Modules are aligned with WOAH curriculum recommendations for veterinarians and veterinary paraprofessional students and peer reviewed by experts in science, academia and practice from all over the world.
In addition to the Teaching Modules WTS created the VETS UNITED Step-by-Step Guide. The guide explains how to embed animal welfare into academic education successfully and long-term. The document is based on WTS’s long-term expertise in running animal welfare training programs, sharing experiences, giving case examples and providing templates and additional documents.
